UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann, the final match of the preliminary card before the event goes live to air on Facebook. Unfortunately this tilt did not get the call for UFC bettingbroadcast, but it won’t make it any less exciting as Roller looks to establish his self in the UFC against Thiago Tavares.
UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann
(15-3-0) Thiago Tavares vs. Shane Roller (9-3-0)
Thursday March 3, 2011 – 8 PM ET
KFC YUM! Center, Louisville, Kentucky
Online Sports Betting Odds: Roller – 200
Tavares has won two of his last three fights, with the only disruption to his winning streak a draw against Nik Lentz. Back-to-back losses to Matt Wiman and Kurt Pellegrino set him back a notch in the ultra-competitive UFC lightweight division, but he can take another step forward if he can take down Roller.
MMA Betting Preview: Thiago Tavares
A black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Tavares needed just 3:47 to clinch a submission win over Pat Audinwood at UFC 119: Mir vs. Cro Cop. Of his 15 career wins, 11 have been decided via submission, a testament to his ability on the ground. Although he lacks the punching power to be much of a threat standing up, the 26-year old excels at take downs, and has only continued to improve with experience. Tavares is a three-time Fight of the Night winner, so whether or not he wins he is sure to impress the crowd in Louisville.
MMA Betting Preview: Shane Roller
After fighting his way to the top of the WEC Lightweight division, the 31-year old Roller will have to start from the bottom once again to establish his self in the UFC. A former NCAA Division 1 wrestler, Roller was submitted by Anthony Pettis in a match to determine the No. 1 contender for the championship in the WEC, but has since rebounded with a win over Jamie Varner this past December. Similar to Tavares, Roller is a submission specialist that has clinched six of his nine wins by making his opponent tap. A two-time Submission of the Night winner in the WEC, president Dana White is hoping those skills will translate well as the promotions intertwine.
MMA Betting: Outlook & Preview
Tavares has battled injuries all year, and while he has said that he is at his best right now, it’s hard to imagine that injuries haven’t taken their toll on him to this point. Roller enters the UFC Picks fight red hot and eager to prove himself, and Tavares represents the perfect fall boy for him to make his sports betting bonus debut against.
